Zinedine Zidane loses first ever Champions League knockout tie as coach

Zinedine Zidane loses first ever Champions League knockout tie as coach. Pep Guardiola has become the first coach capable of bettering Zidane in Europe.

Zidane experienced something new at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

With a 2-1 loss against Manchester City, Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League and Zidane, for the first time in his coaching career, lost a knockout tie in the competition.

Prior to their trip to Manchester, Zidane’s Real Madrid had won nine knockout rounds and three finals.

Roma, Wolfsburg, Man City themselves, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern again have all fallen at the hands of Zidane’s Real Madrid.

The three final wins came over Atleti, Juve and Liverpool.
