Robert Lewandowski threatens to break Champions League record. He recently saw Ciro Immobile overtake him in the list of Europe’s top scorers.
Should Robert Lewandowski grab another five goals in the remainder of this season’s Champions League, he would break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals scored in the tournament in a single campaign.
The Portuguese forward netted as many as 17 times in the 2013/14 course, while the Poland international has mustered 13 goals this season.
Lewandowski recently saw Ciro Immobile overtake him in the list of Europe’s top scorers as the Lazio striker won the European Golden Boot.
However, their numbers are a bit misleading as although Immobile netted 36 goals compared to Lewandowski’s 34, he did so in 37 games compared to his counterpart’s 31 matches.
Cristiano has registered the three top-scoring seasons in the Champions League, with 17 goals in 2013/14, 16 in 2015/16 and 15 in 2017/18.
