The Giallorossi did not want to lose out on the 28-year-old to the incredibly interested Napoli and so they made a desperate lunge last night, offering the Argentinian forward a three-year contract worth €6m net per season. This seems to have proved convincing enough, and Dybala is now on his way to the Eternal City.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Dybala has accepted Roma’s three-year contract offer and will soon become a part of Jose Mourinho’s squad. The transfer will be finalised in the coming days, with medicals likely to take place later this week.

The 28-year-old Argentinian forward will be an exciting addition to Mourinho’s frontline in Rome, being a hardworking and creative second striker who’ll likely work well with Tammy Abraham. In 293 appearances for Juventus, Dybala scored 115 goals and provided 48 assists.

Benzema arguably had his best season for Los Blancos in 2021-22, picking up another Liga title plus the Champions League for a fifth time.

The French striker was pivotal in their run to the Champions League trophy by scoring 15 goals in the competition.

His European strikes came against some of the best teams in the world including Manchester City, PSG and Chelsea, while he also came up with 27 goals and 12 assists in 32 Liga games.

Benzema won the Champions League three years in a row from 2016-2018 when Zidane was manager in Madrid, with his former boss declaring there is no other contender for the Ballon d’Or.

“Karim is like the little brother I never had. We send each other messages. I’m not surprised by what he’s doing. I knew he was capable of that,” he told Marca.

“He has always been very good at Madrid. He’s simply exceptional. Will he win the Ballon d’Or this year? Top prize? Not only do I think that, but the whole world says it.”

AC Milan and Monza both approach Luis Suarez

There are reports swirling around that Milan and Monza both approached Luis Suarez, who is a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid.

The 35-year-old Uruguay international had already been linked with a move to Serie A last year for Juventus, but it never progressed following controversy around the Italian language exam to receive a passport.

The trial into that situation ended last month with nobody at Juventus or Suarez found guilty of misconduct in the Perugia language school that was already under investigation for helping certain students pass tests.

According to TyC Sport in Argentina and Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Suarez received a call from both Milan and newly-promoted Serie A side Monza to see if he would be interested in a contract.

There are even suggestions it could be worth up to €4m per season net.

Diario AS quote agent Marco Kirdemir saying he “brought offers to Suarez and know what he received. Fenerbahce contacted Suarez directly, offering €6m, but Suarez rejected it.

“He wants to play in Italy and there are two offers, one came from Monza worth €4m, but since his image rights are high, that will be part of the deal to increase the salary.”

Suarez had been close to River Plate, but the early elimination in the Copa Libertadores changed their transfer plans.

Milan are looking for a striker who can be a low-cost option while Zlatan Ibrahimovic recovers from knee surgery, so Suarez would fit the bill on that front and bring Champions League experience.

‘Now when they came to me I accepted it because they really wanted me to come to the Premier League to play for them. When I spoke to my good friends Edou [Mendy] and Jorginho they made my choice easier so I’m really happy to be with you today.

‘I want to thank the fans because I saw a lot of them in London and on the plane everybody was happy for me to be here. So I want to thank them and I hope the season will be really good and we will give some good moments to the fans.’

The 37-year-old stunned United last week when he told the club he wishes to leave if they receive a suitable offer for him this summer amid his concerns that the Red Devils are not moving forward quickly enough.

The Portuguese forward still ‘has an affinity for the club’ but at this stage of his career, he wants to be playing in the Champions League and does not see that happening at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo did not report for training on Monday due to family reasons but Sportsmail reported on Sunday that he will hold talks with Erik ten Hag upon his return as he looks to resolve his future.

United insist he is not for sale and have underlined that he is under contract for another year, although new boss Ten Hag is indifferent to whether he stays, hopeful that his departure would help fund other transfers.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been talking to clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Napoli over recent weeks to test whether there is a market for his client but no agreement is in place as it stands.

The Bianconeri have been in talks with Chelsea regarding the 22-year-old Dutch centre back for a number of weeks now, making it clear that a deal wouldn’t come cheap. The funds generated by the sale of De Ligt would be immediately reinvested into the squad, so a decisive offer is needed.

As reported by Sky Sports Germany, Bayern have been in contact with Juventus to discuss a move for De Ligt and things have started positively. The Dutch defender has already spoken with Julian Nagelsmann and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić and he was left feeling very impressed.

As was made clear with Chelsea, De Ligt won’t come cheap; reports suggest that the 22-year-old would cost around €60-80m, but the release clause in his contract is over €100m, so Juventus could play tough in negotiations.
