Arthur Melo no longer wants to play for Barcelona after the Juventus deal

Arthur Melo no longer wants to play for Barcelona after the Juventus deal

Arthur Melo no longer wants to play for Barcelona after the Juventus deal. Media reports Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic have already signed their contracts.

The two midfielders are both having their medicals at the J Medical centre in Turin, with Barca medics overseeing the Pjanic tests.

These clubs are in a rush to get the paperwork completed by June 30. So it can count for the 2019-20 financial year and help balance the books.

Arthur is valued at €70m and Pjanic €60m, so Juve will also hand over €10m in cash to the Blaugrana as part of the package.

These transfers are, however, only valid from the 2020-21 sporting season, so they cannot change teams just yet.

According to Calciomercato.it, that might be irrelevant for Arthur, who is so annoyed at his treatment by Barcelona. He no longer wants to play for them.

Arthur made it very clear he wanted to remain at Camp Nou and was only convinced to leave after being told in no uncertain terms by coach Quique Setien that he wasn’t needed.

This tactic was a double-edged sword. While it prompted Arthur to accept the transfer to Juventus. He is also now furious with Barcelona and reportedly refusing to play for them again.

James Milner says Liverpool braced for Manchester City revival

James Milner says Liverpool braced for Manchester City revival

James Milner says Liverpool braced for Manchester City revival. Liverpool are preparing themselves for defending their Premier League title next season.

The 30-year wait for their 19th English top-flight title ended on Thursday when two-times defending champions City lost to Chelsea, giving Jurgen Klopp’s side an unassailable 23-point lead with seven games left.

Milner won the Premier League twice during his time at Manchester City but on neither occasion did the club retain the championship the following season.

“You see how difficult it is for any team to defend the title,” Milner said in an interview with The Times. “[Manchester] City managed it last season but they tried twice before and failed.”

“The two times I was there in seasons after winning titles we were never at the races. That’s something I’ve learnt from.”

“This Liverpool team has shown we can deal with disappointment. Can we now show that we can deal with success? Being as good next year as we’ve been this year wont be enough, City will raise their game and so will other clubs.”

Mikel Arteta looks to Jurgen Klopp for inspiration during Arsenal rebuild

Mikel Arteta looks to Jurgen Klopp for inspiration during Arsenal rebuild. The Gunners boss knows it won’t be as simple as a cut-and-paste.

He has hailed Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool for laying out the blueprint on the kind of rebuilding job he wants to do at Arsenal.

But the Gunners boss knows it won’t be as simple as a cut-and-paste of the ways Klopp has built success at the Reds, who became Premier League champions on Thursday night.

“Liverpool is a great example to see that it is possible,” said Arteta. “But it takes a lot of work and a lot of the right decisions from everyone.”

“First of all, you need belief in what you are doing. And then see that you are all aligned in that belief.”

“From there you start to make right decisions, in terms of recruitment, to get a coach who identifies the philosophy. That is needed for that football club, who the fans believe in.”

“And then you need players who are 100 per cent committed to that manager, to that football club, to give their best all the time. It does not matter what.”
