Lazio fear David Silva will make U-turn on free transfer. Manchester City midfielder ‘ignored calls’ from the Italian side.
Lazio are worried over missing out on Manchester City’s David Silva, with the veteran playmaker reportedly ‘ignoring calls’ from the Italian side over trying to confirm a transfer.
The 34-year-old has played his last game for City, after appearing as a late substitute in their shock 3-1 defeat by Lyon in the Champions League quarter-finals on Saturday night.
Silva is now out of contract at the Etihad Stadium and with the Premier League club’s blessing will leave after a decade’s service.
Corriere dello sport have claimed the Serie A side have been left worried by the player not responding to any of their calls made to him to confirm the deal would go ahead as planned.
Lazio, who produced a brief title challenge to Juventus before finishing fourth in Serie A, are seriously concerned with the deal falling through as it would likely severely dent their summer plans for improving the squad.
Silva was supposed to show his intentions over a move ‘via a signature or an email’ on Monday but had still not contacted the club by Thursday.
The club now fear that Silva has got cold feet over a move to the Italian capital and is weighing up offers from other clubs elsewhere.
