Liverpool target Norwich left back Jamal Lewis in £10m deal. Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is looking for cover in the position.
Klopp is in need of cover for first-choice Andy Robertson in defence, particularly given Alberto Moreno’s departure last year.
The ever-reliable James Milner has often deputised for the Scotland captain when needed, but in what is expected to be a quiet window, the Reds are ready to take a gamble on a player relegated from the Premier League, according to The Mirror.
Meanwhile, it is understood Klopp is a huge admirer of Lewis, with his statistics impressing the highly-regarded analytics department at Liverpool.
The 22-year-old is also versatile and able to play a number of different defensive positions, which will give him more opportunities for first-team football, should that be a concern.
Klopp has also reportedly looked at Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly and Brighton’s Ben White as potential cover for Robertson at left back.
