Premier League referees set to be tested for coronavirus this week. Referees and assistants will report to their nearest Premier League club training ground this week for test for the first time.
Ensuring match officials are negative is one of the final few boxes that needs ticking before the 2019-20 season can restart
However, the Premier League are confident they have sufficient numbers to cover the upcoming matches.
Any referees confirmed with Covid-19 would miss the season’s restart on June 17.
One source close to several officials told Daily Mail that officials with Covid-19 could miss remainder of season.
That would hit referees hard financially because of a significant part of their salary per-game and performance bonuses.
