Two Chelsea Legends played a key role in Werner deal. Petr Cech and Frank Lampard played a key role in Chelsea agreeing a deal to sign Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Cech, the technical and performance adviser at the club, and Lampard laid out their vision for Werner in a meeting, giving Chelsea’s bid the personal touch, according to The Telegraph.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper joined former Blues team-mate and current Chelsea manager Lampard on a secret pre-lockdown trip to Germany to help convince Werner his future belonged at Stamford Bridge.
Werner and his family were hugely impressed by the visit of the legendary Chelsea duo.
Werner heard plans of how Lampard wants his team to look next season. He also heard of the winning mentality he hopes to bring back to west London.
Cech held initial talks with Werner ahead of the January transfer window. But the German was reluctant to leave mid-season.
