Manchester City try to include David Alaba in Leroy Sane deal as Bayern Munich make contact. Sane is set to leave after rejecting a new contract.

City are exploring the possibility of including Alaba in the deal, according to the Athletic.

The Austria star, normally a left-back, has been playing in different roles for Bayern this year.

Alaba, 28, has been playing centre-back with Alphonso Davies being switched to left-wing back.

But Bayern don’t want to lose Alaba and could make him see out the final year of his contract before letting him leave for free.

Sane also has one year left on his deal and Bayern don’t want to pay City’s £90m valuation for the winger.

The clubs are currently at a stalemate but City exploring ways to get the deal done suggests talks have restarted.

Andy Cooke, Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, said on social media that 15 people were arrested on Friday night, and that officers were “subjected to a number of violent confrontations”.

A joint statement by the club, police, council and a fans’ group called the gatherings “wholly unacceptable”.

Klopp wrote an open letter in the Liverpool Echo to fans on Monday to thank them for their support, saying “this is our moment”, but pleaded with supporters to celebrate “in a safe way and in private settings”.

“I am a human being and your passion is also my passion but right now the most important thing is that we do not have these kind of public gatherings,” Klopp wrote.

“Please – celebrate – but celebrate in a safe way and in private settings, whereby we do not risk spreading this awful disease further in our community.”

“When the time is right we will celebrate. We will enjoy this moment and we will paint the city red. But for now, please stay at home as much as possible.”

Arthur Melo no longer wants to play for Barcelona after the Juventus deal

Arthur Melo no longer wants to play for Barcelona after the Juventus deal. Media reports Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic have already signed their contracts.

The two midfielders are both having their medicals at the J Medical centre in Turin, with Barca medics overseeing the Pjanic tests.

These clubs are in a rush to get the paperwork completed by June 30. So it can count for the 2019-20 financial year and help balance the books.

Arthur is valued at €70m and Pjanic €60m, so Juve will also hand over €10m in cash to the Blaugrana as part of the package.

These transfers are, however, only valid from the 2020-21 sporting season, so they cannot change teams just yet.

According to Calciomercato.it, that might be irrelevant for Arthur, who is so annoyed at his treatment by Barcelona. He no longer wants to play for them.

Arthur made it very clear he wanted to remain at Camp Nou and was only convinced to leave after being told in no uncertain terms by coach Quique Setien that he wasn’t needed.

This tactic was a double-edged sword. While it prompted Arthur to accept the transfer to Juventus. He is also now furious with Barcelona and reportedly refusing to play for them again.
